Membership
We have about 90 members of various standards ranging from beginners through to County, and all ages. Squash and Racketball membership for the 2024-25 season is £155 per annum (£80 for juniors), which is Chester RUFC membership, plus an annual court usage supplement of £120 for all-inclusive access to the courts. So in addition to unlimited squash and racketball, this allows you access to all Rugby Club events and matches (except 1st XV). The membership year runs from 1st August, but we discount this pro-rata when new members join mid-year.
New members are welcome to come along to a few club sessions before committing to membership.
Facilities
There are 3 courts, including one glassback with spectator seating. The courts have recently been refurbished thanks to a £30,000 grant from Sport England, which has allowed us to install insulation throughout, a new roof covering, new court heaters and LED lights.
The court usage supplement of £120 allows you to play as much as you want, at any time. The courts are available for use all year round and members have their own key. Court lights are activated by a push button timer that turns the lights on for 50 minutes.
Activities
We have some regular group sessions:
A Drills Night on Monday evenings from 6-8. This is a group coaching session with a focus on core skills. There is a small supplement of £2 for the session.
A Club Night on Tuesday evenings (6-8). This is a drop in session where people turn up and play whoever is there, for 3 games, on a rotating basis. In that way people play a range of players and you can play for up to 2 hours. In the summer (and in the winter on the few occasions when there are no league matches) we also do Thursday evenings (6-8). These sessions are included in the court usage supplement.
A Sunday morning session from 10-12 with a focus on skills, and individual games.
Competitive Stuff
We run an internal online squash ladder on Sportconnexions which is a great way to get to know players of a similar ability.
We also have annual tournaments and one-day round robin competitions throughout the year.
Teams
We have 4 teams that compete in the Northwest Counties Squash League (Divisions 2, 3, and 4, a) every Thursday evening from late Sept to early April. We also compete in a less formal Summer League on Thursday evenings from May to July.
Coaching
One to one coaching is available by arrangement with Robbie Blair, Cheshire over 55 men's champion.
Court Hire
Organisers of group activities (such as Pilates, fitness, or yoga), schools, or outside organisations, can hire the courts on an hourly basis for £12 per hour. Please contact us for more information or to make a booking.
