A good turnout for our 1st game of the season saw 23 Chester lads head over to Caldy on a warm, but overcast Sunday morning. After a few short training drills for the girls (sorry backs) and the forwards the game kicked off for the first time on a full size U13 pitch (90mx60m). It's fair to say that both sides found the extra space useful, but equally exhausting - need to work on the kicking game more! Adopting the "half game" initiative we rotated well whilst keeping our shape, although communication wasn't where it was at the end of last season, but we know this will improve as the lads start to become more cohesive.
Srums were stable and strong which is a good sign so early. Back positions were excellent in the most part and we tried a few lads in at number 8.
Overall a fairly well balanced game between two good sides who both seemed to enjoy the new challenges facing them at U13.
Looking forward to continued improvement in our next game........ stay tuned!
